September , 2009
Dear Friends,

As summer comes to a close let us look forward to the many events of fall and the changing of the season with our beautiful trees and their colors. This is another opportunity for you to become a Friend of the library by joining the "Friends of the Library" group.

The "Friends" are the willing and helping hands of the Town of Esopus Library. With our new library and with our additional patronage there are multiple ways the Friends can help. The Friends raise funds for the library through their book sale, their operation of the bookstore and various other activities. They participate in the library operation by stocking shelves, manning the circulation desk, processing books and CD's donated to the library, and sending out items requested by patrons of the library.

The Book Cellar is one activity that the Friends operate. They receive donated books and sell them at a nominal fee. This activity has brought in funds that have contributed to the library operation.

Some of the things that have been purchased by the Friends for the library during the past year are, CD restorer which reconditions CDs, display case in lobby for business cards, purchased books and many other items.

In joining the Friends of the Library you will be proud to belong to such a worthwhile group. At our meetings you will meet your fellow volunteers and get to know the wonderful staff of the library. If you have any questions on this organization we are sure that any member will be glad to help you out.

We would like you to join us in this very worthwhile organization. Please renew your membership and we welcome new members. Dues are just $10.00 per year and as you can see are used in many ways. If you are unable to devote a lot of time to the group your membership and your input is valuable.

You will be a valuable asset to our community.

Sincerely and Thanks

Cathy and Earl Johnson
